Walnut, MS
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — As the National Wild Turkey Federation prepares to celebrate its 35th anniversary, the conservation organization was recently presented the Bass Pro Shops Conservation Partner award for outstanding efforts in conservation and the preservation of the hunting tradition.
NWTF CEO, Rob Keck, accepted the award from Bass Pro Shops founder, John L. Morris, at the Bass Pro Shops Worldwide Headquarters in Springfield, Mo. before addressing Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine and American Rod and Gun associates on conservation and the NWTF's work.
"Receiving this award on behalf of the NWTF is an incredible honor," Keck said. "The Federation has invested 35 years in conserving wild turkey populations and protecting the hunting heritage. We're proud of what we've accomplished, and with partners like Bass Pro Shops and the caliber of volunteers we have involved with the NWTF, we are sure to continue doing great things for many years to come."
Bass Pro Shops and the NWTF have a long-running partnership in conservation and during October, all Bass Pro stores helped shoppers "Rediscover the Power of Family Togetherness" during its NWTF month.
Bass Pro allowed the NWTF to hold all types of events in their stores in October. Events ranged from co-hosting Wheelin' Sportsman deer hunts for folks with disabilities to hosting NWTF Hunting Heritage banquets, which spoke volumes to a great partnership.
The NWTF's flying turkey logo also appeared on the DEI, Bass Pro Shops sponsored No. 1 racecar during the NASCAR Pepsi 400 at the Daytona International Speedway in 2007, and in several over races over the years. The sponsorships were donations from Bass Pro Shops.
"The NWTF comes from humble beginnings, which proves how significant an impact a few dedicated people can make," Keck said. "We started out with only 1,200 members in 1973, and now have more than 550,000 members that share a passion for wildlife conservation that is unmatched by any other conservation organization. We are looking forward to - and planning for - a bright future."
